In this modern age of science and technology, the GOS had posted a very junior officer, having no technical background in KWSB as Managing Director. KWSB has a mandate to supply safe drinking water to the citizens of Karachi, sewage collection and its safe disposal. The present MD, Mr. Sajjad Abbasi (BS-19) is totally ignorant of the basics of the water and sewerage subject and just working under certain agenda assigned by political parties. The institution has been totally collapsed under his leadership and 14, 000 employees are also suffering due to his incompetency. Its a revenue generating department but needs funds for every other schemes, unable to pay its due taxes such as electricity bills etc.The financial position of the KWSB is going to decline with every passing day. In fact incompetency has been compounded by corruption leaving no room of improvement. The financial collapse of KWSB is at a seriously alarming stage and before its too late the situation needs to be improved by inducting a highly technical and competent leadership.
